Gas Dehydration Units
Propak provides Gas Dehydration Systems to remove water vapor from natural gas streams as a means to prevent the formation of natural gas hydrates in gas pipeline systems and minimize corrosion to the pipelines due to the presence of water.
There are several types of processes commonly utilized for water removal from natural gas:
- Glycol (TEG) Gas Dehydrators
- Solid Dessicant Dehydrators – Silica Gel, Molecular Sieve, Activated Alumina
- Calcium Chloride Dehydrators
The most common process in use in the Gas Processing Industry today is the TEG Gas Dehydrator. The dehydration process contacts dry tri-ethylene glycol (TEG) with wet gas to absorb the water from the natural gas in a glycol contactor tower. The contactor tower contains trays or structured packing to maximize the contact between the wet gas and dry glycol. The rich glycol containing the absorbed water is sent to a glycol reconcentration system which regenerates the wet glycol by filtering, and heating to 204°C (400°F). This purifies the wet glycol by eliminating the water in the form of steam, and the regenerated glycol is then pumped and recycled to the inlet of the Glycol Contactor to contact the wet gas again.
Propak Systems manufactures standard and custom design units for the Gas Processing Industry. These TEG dehydration units can process gas volumes, which range from 0.1 MMSCFD to 500 MMSCFD typically.
Standard TEG Dehydration Units
For details concerning Propak’s standard TEG Dehydration units, which are normally in stock please refer to our Stock Production Equipment section. These standard units are designed for sweet or sour gas service and have tower sizes which range from 12.75 inch O.D. to 36 inch O.D. and are available for sale, rent, or lease.
Custom TEG Dehydration Units
Propak designs and manufactures custom units for Gas Producers for specific applications for large gas flowrates, special operating applications, customer specifications, on-shore, and offshore applications for fixed platforms and FPSO’s.
