A LIST OF COMMERCIAL PLANTS OF DMC TECHNOLOGY

1. Tengiz crude demercaptanization plant (DMC-1 process).

Settlement Karaton, Atyrau region, Kazakhstan, JV "Tengizchevroil".
In operation since 1995 (1 line), 1996 (2 line).
Capacity 2 x 4 MMt/yr
Catalyst - IVKAZ

Mercaptan sulfur content (methyl- and ethyl-):

  • before treatment - 0.026 % mass (260 ppm)
  • after treatment - 0.0002 % mass (2 ppm)

The design is developed by "Bechtel Co.", England.
The plant has been mounted using new equipment by "Brown and Root Co".


2. n-Pentane demercaptanization plant (DMD-2 process).

Novokuibyshevsk, Novokuibyshevsk Petro-chemical plant. Central gas fractionating plant.
In operation since 1974.
Capacity - 120 000 t/yr.
Catalyst - IVKAZ.

Mercaptan sulfur content:

  • before treatment - 0.03 % mass (300 ppm)
  • after treatment - 0.0005 % mass (5 ppm)

The design is developed by Design office of Novokuibyshevsk petro-chemical plant.The plant has been mounted using existing equipment.


3. Demercaptanization plant for broad fraction of light hydrocarbons (DMD-2 process).

Salavat, Industrial association "Salavatnefteorgsintez", Central gas fractionating plant.
In operation since 1975.
Capacity - 400 000 t/yr.
Catalyst - IVKAZ.

Mercaptan sulfur content:

  • before treatment - 0.5 % mass (5000 ppm)
  • after treatment - 0.002 % mass (20 ppm)

The design is developed by Salavat branch office of Bashgiproneftekhim.
The plant has been mounted using existing equipment.


4. Demercaptanization plant for a broad fraction of light hydrocarbons (DMD-2 process).

Salavat, Industrial association "Salavatnefteorgsintez" Absorption Gas Fractionating plant.
In operation since 1976.
Capacity - 600 000 t/yr.
Catalyst - IVKAZ.

Mercaptan sulfur content:

  • before treatment - 0.3 % mass (3000 ppm)
  • after treatment - 0.0005 % mass (5 ppm)

The design is developed by Salavat branch office of Bashgiproneftekhim.
The plant has been mounted, using existing equipment.


5. Demercaptanization plant for butane-butylene and pentane-amylene fractions (DMD-2 process).

Ryazan, Ryazan Refinery, Gas-fractionating plant.
In operation since 1985.
Capacity - 125 000 t/yr.
Catalyst - IVKAZ.

Mercaptan sulfur content:

  • before treatment - 0.3 % mass (3000 ppm)
  • after treatment - 0.001 % mass (10 ppm)

The design is developed by Design office of Ryazan Refinery.
The plant has been mounted using existing equipment.


6. Demercaptanization plant for liquefied gases (DMD-2 process).

Astrakhan, Astrakhan Gas-Processing plant, a combined unit of gas condensate processing.
In operation since 1992.
Capacity - 400 000 t/yr.
Catalyst - IVKAZ.

Mercaptan sulfur content:

  • before treatment - 0.7 % mass (7000 ppm)
  • after treatment - 0.003 % mass (30 ppm)

The design is developed by Scientific and production association "Lenneftekhim".
The plant has been mounted using new equipment.


7. Demercaptanization plant for butane-butylene fraction (DMD-2 process).

Samara, Refinery, Gas fractionating plant.
In operation since 1974.
Capacity - 130 000 t/yr.
Catalyst - IVKAZ.
Mercaptan sulfur content:

  • before treatment - 0.15 % mass (1500 ppm)
  • after treatment - 0.002 % mass (20 ppm)

The design is developed by Design office of Samara refinery.
The plant has been mounted using existing equipment.


8. Plant for sulfide-alkaline waste water processing (Serox-W process).

Ryazan, Ryazan Refinery.
In operation since 1991.
Capacity - 80 000 t/yr.
Catalyst - UVKO.

Sulfide sulfur content:

  • before processing - 5000 mg/l
  • after processing - below 1.0 mg/l

The design is developed by Design office of Ryazan Refinery.
The plant has been mounted, using existing equipment.


9. Plant for Karachaganak condensate demercaptanization (DMC-2 process).

Orenburg, Gas-processing plant.
Expected date of putting into operation 1997.
Capacity - 1MMt/yr.
Catalyst - UVKO-2.

Total methyl- and ethylmercaptan content:

  • before treatment - 1190 ppm
  • after treatment - below 6 ppm

The design is being developed by VNIIPIGazpererabotka, Krasnodar.


10. Plant for treating technological condensate of catalytic cracking (Serox-W process).

Ufa, Ufa Refinery, plant G-43-107.
In operation since - July 1995.
Capacity - 20000 t/yr.
Catalyst – UVKO-1.

Sulfide sulfur content:

  • before treatment - 5000 mg/l
  • after treatment - below 20 mg/l

The design was developed by Grozgiproneftekhim.


11. Plant for sulfide-alkaline waste water treatment (Serox-W process).

Novokuibyshevsk, Novokuibyshevsk petro-chemical plant, Central gas fractionating plant-3.
In operation since 1995.
Capacity for sulfur-alkaline waste water - 2 m3/hr.
Catalyst – UVKO-1.

Sulfide sulfur content:

  • before treatment - up to 6000 mg/l
  • after treatment - below 20 mg/l

The design was developed by a Design office of Novokuibyshevsk petro-chemical plant.


12. Complex demercaptanization of light petroleum fractions of crude processing

Samara, Kuibyshev Refinery, ELOW-AVT-3.5.
The plant was built in 1995. The expected year of putting into operation - 1995-1996.

The plant includes:

  • a unit of C3-C4 fraction treatment for 200000 t/yr (DMD-2);
  • a unit of C5 fraction treatment for 110000 t/yr (DMD-2);
  • a unit of C6 - 70oC fraction treatment for 310000 t/yr (DMB process);
  • a unit of sulfide-alkaline waste water treatment for 0.2 m3/hr (Serox).

Catalysts: IVKAZ, UVKO-1, UVKO-2.

A design hydrogen sulfide and mercaptan concentration:

  • C3-C4 fraction: before treatment - hydrogen sulfide - 1.0 % mass mercaptan sulfur - 0.3 % mass(3000 ppm) : after treatment - hydrogen sulfide - absent
    mercaptan sulfur - 0.002 % mass (20 ppm)
  • C5 fraction: before treatment - hydrogen sulfide - 0.015 % mass mercaptan sulfur - 0.1 % mass (1000 ppm) : after treatment - hydrogen sulfide - absent : mercaptan sulfur - 0.0005 % mass (5 ppm)
  • C6 - 70oC fraction:before treatment -mercaptan sulfur-0.08%mass(800 ppm) after treatment -mercaptan sulfur -0.0005 % mass (5 ppm) : sulfur-alkaline waste water: sulfide sulfur : before treatment - 1000 mg/l after treatment - below 20 mg/l

The design was developed by JS "Samaraneftekhimproekt", Samara.
The plant was built by "Salzgitter Anlagen bay", Germany.


A plant for removal of low-molecular weight mercaptans from gas condensate,

Orenburg, Orenburg GPZ.
In operation since 1983.

Capacity:

  • for initial crude 300.000t/yr
  • for mixture of natural mercaptans (odorant SPM) - 3.000 t/yr

Degree of mercaptan removal - 60 %.
The design has been fulfilled by Design and Engineering Office of Orenburg Gpz and YuzhNIIGIPROGAZ, Donetsk.
The plant has been mounted using existing equipment.
